2.5 Hour Rafting tour

Get ready for an unforgettable trip through the world’s highest tides. Tidal bore rafting is perfect for thrill-seekers, nature lovers, and anyone looking to experience one of Nova Scotia’s most iconic natural wonders. As an Indigenous-owned company, we are proud that our tour includes Mi’kmaq history and makes connections to the cultural significance of the Shubenacadie River, adding depth and meaning to your experience.

The tour begins with a cruise out to the red mud sandbar where we’ll await the rush of the incoming tide. When the tidal bore makes its appearance, you’ll see how the tide creates a rollercoaster of rapids for us to play in. Our experienced guides will navigate the raft through the waves, scooping up gallons of salty river water to soak everyone on board.

After the rapids, we’ll wrap up the experience with an optional mud sliding activity that’s sure to leave you laughing and covered in the river’s famous red mud.

We require all passengers to be at least 6-years-old and weigh at least 60lbs to raft on any tour.

A group of rafters laughs while driving through the tidal bore rapids.

Rafting policies

All rafting tour tickets are prepaid in full at the time of booking, and all sales are final. Rafting tours can be booked through our website or by calling us at (902) 400-0104.

PREPARING FOR THE TOUR

Guests must arrive at our front desk for check-in 1 hour prior to their scheduled tour time. Our tours are timed with the incoming tide, which means that unfortunately we are unable to delay a departure for a late guest. Guests who miss their scheduled check-in time may move to another tour, pending availability, or they will be issued a voucher for a future tour that never expires.

Guests will get soaking wet with muddy salt water during the tour. We recommend wearing clothing that won’t be missed if it gets ruined on the tour.

We Provide:

  • Mandatory safety equipment
  • Friendly, knowledgeable staff
  • Pre-trip safety orientation
  • Eco-friendly outdoor rinse station
  • Mi’kmaq history and cultural connections

You Provide:

  • Change of clothing
  • Towel
  • Shower items
  • Sneakers or strap-on sandals

safety policies

All guests participating in a rafting tour must complete a waiver and participate in a mandatory pre-trip safety orientation.

Rafters must be at least 6-years-old and weigh at least 60lbs (27kg) to participate in the rafting tour.

We have a minimum requirement of 6 people on the 4-hour tour. While groups smaller than 6 can still book this tour in advance, if we do not have a minimum of 6 people check-in for this tour, guests may be moved to the 2.5 hour tour. In this situation, we will refund the difference in pricing.

For the safety of our guests, all rafters must be able to full-support their own body weight without assistance. Our Trip Leader will make the final decision on whether or not any individual can participate in the tour based on safety protocols.

Rafters must wear all required safety gear as instructed by our staff. This includes mandatory life jackets and helmets that we provide and secure footwear with a back (no Crocs or flip flops).

All rafters must sit in the boats as instructed by the Trip Leader. While we make every effort to seat groups together on the same boat, it is sometimes necessary to split a group to achieve even weight distribution for safety across all boats on a tour.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for impairment by alcohol or drugs on our boats. If our staff know or suspect that a guest is impaired, we will not allow that guest on the tour. In this situation, no refunds will be issued but we may choose to issue vouchers for a future date at our discretion.

canceling or rescheduling a tour

All rafting tour tickets are prepaid in full at the time of booking, and all sales are final. Guests may reschedule a tour, pending availability. We do not issue refunds if a guest cancels a tour, however we will issue a voucher for a future tour that never expires.

We do not issue refunds unless the tour is canceled by Tidal Bore Rafting Resort due to a safety concern. We raft in almost all types of weather, so no refunds will be issued due to weather unless a tour is cancelled by us. In the rare event that a tour is cancelled, guests will be offered a choice between a full refund or a voucher for a future tour that never expires.

group bookings

For groups larger than 10 participants, please book over the phone at (902) 400-0104 to receive a group booking discount. The group booking discount cannot be applied retroactively to an existing reservation. Full payment for group bookings must be received within 10 days of the rafting spaces being held, and at least 14 days prior to the tour date. Group bookings are non-refundable once payment has been received.
