WEBSITE TERMS
RAFTING POLICIES
All rafting tour tickets are prepaid in full at the time of booking, and all sales are final. Rafting tours can be booked through our website or by calling us at (902) 400-0104.
GET READY TO RIDE
Please arrive 1 hour prior to your scheduled tour time to check-in. Our tours are timed with the incoming tide, which means that unfortunately we can’t delay the tour if you’re running late.
If you miss your mandatory pre-trip safety orientation, you won’t be able to take the tour. In this situation, we can either move you to another day (pending availability) or give you a voucher to come again another time that never expires.
You can leave anything you don’t want to bring on the tour locked in your vehicle, and we can keep your keys inside behind our front desk. Tidal Bore Rafting Resort is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items left on our property during your tour.
WHAT TO BRING
You will get soaking wet with muddy salt water during the tour, and covered in mud if you go mud sliding. We recommend wearing clothes that won’t be missed if they get ruined, and not bringing anything you would be sad to lose to the river.
We’ll provide mandatory safety equipment including life jackets. Depending on the weather, our guides may require you to wear additional gear to keep warm.
You should bring:
– Change of clothing
– Towels
– Shower items
– Sneakers or strap-on sandals
AFTER THE TOUR
We have eco-friendly outdoor rinse stations to help you clean up after the trip.
Come on into the main lodge once you’ve had a chance to change and freshen up. We’ll have photos and videos from your trip, and a collection of authentic Mi’kmaq art and cultural items available for purchase if you’re interested in deepening your understanding of the Mi’kmaq people.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Everyone participating in a rafting tour must complete a waiver and participate in a mandatory pre-trip safety orientation.
Rafters must be at least 6-years-old and weigh at least 60lbs (27kg) to participate in the rafting tour.
For the safety of our guests, all rafters must be able to fully-support their own body weight without assistance. Our Trip Leader will make the final decision on whether or not any individual can participate based on safety protocols.
Rafters must wear all required safety gear as instructed by our staff.
All rafters must sit in the boats as instructed by the Trip Leader. While we make every effort to seat groups together on the same boat, it is sometimes necessary to split a group to achieve even weight distribution for safety across all boats on a tour.
We require a minimum of 6 people for the 4 hour tour. If you book the 4 hour tour with less than 6 participants, and we don’t have the required amount of rafters sign up, your group will be moved to the 2.5 hour tour. In this scenario, you would be refunded the price difference in your tickets.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for impairment by alcohol or drugs on our boats. If our staff know or suspect that a guest is impaired, we will not allow that guest on the tour. In this situation, no refunds will be issued but we may choose to issue vouchers for a future date at our discretion.
GROUP BOOKINGS
We offer group rates for more than 10 participants booking together with a single method of payment. Please book over the phone at (902) 400-0104 to receive a group booking discount. The group booking discount cannot be applied retroactively to an existing reservation.
CANCELLING OR RESCHEDULING A TOUR
Guests may reschedule a tour, pending availability. We do not issue refunds if a guest cancels a tour, however we will issue a voucher for a future tour that never expires.
We do not issue refunds unless the tour is cancelled by Tidal Bore Rafting Resort due to a safety concern. We raft in almost all types of weather, so no refunds will be issued due to weather unless a tour is cancelled. In the rare event that a tour is cancelled, guests will be offered a choice between a full refund or a voucher for a future tour that never expires.
ACCOMMODATION POLICIES
We charge a non-refundable 25% deposit at the time of booking accommodations to guarantee your reservation. The remaining balance is due at check-in. Accommodation bookings can be made through our website or by calling us at (902) 400-0104.
CABIN OCCUPANCY AND EXTRA PERSON FEES
Each cabin has an extra person fee of $20 per person over the base occupancy. There is also a maximum number of guests that can stay in each cabin. Guests must inform our front desk of the total number of people checking in, and only registered guests are permitted to stay in the cabins and cottages.
We do not charge an extra person fee for children under 12.
CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT
Guaranteed check-in time is 3 PM. If your cabin is available prior to that time, we are happy to complete your check-in earlier, however an early check-in is never guaranteed.
Guests must present a government-issued photo ID when checking in, as well as a credit card for payment of any remaining balance.
There must be at least one guest staying in each cabin who is at least 18 years old at the time of check-in.
Check-out time is 11 AM. We are sometimes able to accommodate late check-outs at a rate of $25 per hour, but this must be booked in advance with our front desk. Late check-outs may not be accommodated if another booking is scheduled to arrive the same day. Late check-outs that have not been booked in advance will be charged at a rate of $50 per hour to the credit card on file.
Guests are responsible for washing dishes and neatly sorting their garbage and recycling into the provided containers prior to checking out. Cabins or cottages that require excessive cleaning after check-out will be subject to additional cleaning fees. If any items belonging to Tidal Bore Rafting Resort have been damaged or removed, guest accounts will be charged appropriate replacement fees.
PET POLICY
We are a dog-friendly property (no other pets). To ensure a pleasant stay for all of our guests, we have a few rules that all dog-owners must follow.
A non-refundable pet fee of $50 per stay, and a maximum of 3 dogs are permitted in any cabin or cottage. Dogs must always be kept on a leash in outdoor areas of the property, and are only permitted in the cottage or cabin they are registered in. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture and must be clean and free from pests.
Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs immediately in all areas. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant or dining areas, on the pool deck or in the pool, or on the rafting tours.
Dogs must not disturb other guests. Dogs that display excessive barking or any aggressive behaviour will be asked to leave the property. Guests are responsible for any damage or injury caused by their pets and will be liable for any associated expenses incurred by the resort.
SMOKING AND VAPING
Smoking and vaping of any substances is prohibited inside all buildings on our property, including cabins, the restaurant and main lodge decks, and on rafting tours. A cleaning fee of up to $2,000 will be charged to guest accounts for smoking or vaping of any substance in a cabin. Smoking is permitted only in outside areas at least 4 meters (13 feet) from building entrances and windows. Please use the outdoor ashtrays provided for all cigarette butts to help keep our resort clean and prevent fire hazards.
CAMPFIRES
Campfires are only permitted at designated sites, and all campfires must follow provincial burning restrictions. The front desk at the main lodge will post the daily burn restrictions and times of day when campfires are permitted, which can also be accessed at novascotia.ca/burnsafe or by calling 1-855-564-2876. The Province of Nova Scotia issues fines of $25,000 for any violations of these burn restrictions, including at private campgrounds.
CANCELLATIONS & CHANGES
We collect a non-refundable 25% deposit on all accommodation bookings. For standard accommodation bookings of 4 or less cabins, cancellations must be made at least 14 days in advance of the check-in date to avoid paying the remaining 75% balance of the booking total. Cancellations within 14 days of check-in and no shows must pay for the additional 75% balance of the booking total.
For group accommodation bookings of 5 or more cabins, cancellations must be made at least 30 days in advance of the check-in date to avoid paying the remaining 75% balance of the booking total. The 25% booking deposit in non-refundable.
Date changes for all accommodation bookings are subject to a $20 administration fee per cabin.
RESORT POLICIES
Our resort policies apply to all guests visiting or staying on our property. If you have any questions, please contact our front desk at (902) 400-0104.
These policies may be updated or adjusted at the discretion of Tidal Bore Rafting Resort management. Policies will be updated on our website at raftingcanada.ca.

SMOKING AND VAPING
Nova Scotia’s Smoke-free Places Act requires that all indoor workplaces and public places, select outdoor public spaces, outdoor licensed areas and patios of all restaurants be smoke-free. As such, smoking and vaping of any substances is prohibited inside all buildings on our property, including cottages, cabins, the restaurant and main lodge decks, and on rafting tours. A cleaning fee of up to $2,000 will be charged to guest accounts for smoking or vaping of any substance in a cottage or cabin.
Smoking is permitted only in outside areas at least 4 meters (13 feet) from building entrances and windows. Please use the outdoor ashtrays provided for all cigarette butts to help keep our resort clean and prevent fire hazards.
